Salt City Market
The Allyn Family Foundation, through a newly created not for profit corporation called Syracuse Urban Partnership, has purchased the vacant lot at 484 S. Salina Street (on the corner of Salina and West Onondaga Streets) and plans to build a multi-floor building that will include a public market/food hall, mixed-income housing and office space for the Allyn Family Foundation and other community partners.
Over the last several months the foundation has been engaged in dozens of focus groups, thousands of community surveys, and numerous design meetings, all aimed at building a bustling multicultural market in Syracuse, New York that includes a grocery store, café, bar, events and the opportunity to live and work above it.
We heard loud and clear from the community that they want a place where everyone feels like they belong.
So that’s what we’re building. A market where everyone can cross paths and experience a new flavor of Syracuse.
Better yet, it finally has a name!
After dozens of naming ideas, logo iterations, and over 500 survey responses, we have decided to name it:
So now that we've named it, it's time to get back to work on designing the building. Please continue to follow us on this journey over the next several months by going to our new website: www.saltcitymarket.com
